Over 400 HIV positive found in Cox’s Bazar

Cox`s BazarAs many as 411 HIV/AIDS infected people have been identified in Cox’s Bazar district, said the district’s Civil Surgeon office.
“From 2016, so far 411 people have been detected with HIV/AIDS including Rohingyas in Cox’s Bazar district,” said the district’s Civil Surgeon Dr MA Motin at a meeting organised in Cox’s Bazar press club on Saturday (Dec 8).
“Among the affected people, 56 died and categorically, 42 are Rohingyas and 16 are local residence,” he added.
Since the exodus of Rohingyas fleeing the brutality of the Myanmar army on Aug 25 last year, some 700,000 Rohingyas have fled to Bangladesh and now are living in timid and squalid camps in the southeastern Bangladesh district.
