A gunfight between two robber gangs has left one dead in Kushtia, said police.

The incident was reported from Hawkhali field by the Veramara-Pragpur highway around 1:45.

Police has seized one pistol, three rounds of bullets and two magazines from the scene, said Veramara Police OC Khandaker Shamim.

He said, “A patrol team went to the scene on information that a gunfight was in progress between two groups of robbers. When the robbers left sensing presence of police, one of them was found injured from bullet wounds.”

“Doctors at the Kushtia General Hospital pronounce him dead when he was rushed there,” added Shamim.

The identity of the deceased is yet to be identified.
