Eight members of a family have been burned to death in a fire in Joypurhat.
The incident was reported around 9.30pm on Wednesday from the district’s Aramnagar area, said Joypurhat fire service Inspector Sirajul Islam.
The deceased are Dulal Hossain, 60, Momena Begum, 52, Momin Hossain, 45, Porina Banu, 30, Bristi, 14, Hashi, 12, Khushi, 12, Taimul Islam Nur, 6.
“Eight people were killed in the fire which was caused by an electrical short circuit. Local fire fighting unit took control over the fire after one hour of the incident,” said Sirajul Islam.
“The dead bodies of Momin Hossain, Momena Begum and Bristi were recovered from the scene and other victims succumbed to their injuries on the way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital,” Sirajul Islam added.
