Four dead as Palli Bidyut wire falls on moving vehicle

Representational imageThree members of the same family and the driver of a CNG run three-wheeler were electrocuted to death by a snapped high-voltage Palli Bidyut wire.
The incident took place on Friday (Sept 21) at Cumilla’s NangalkotUpazila as the family was returning home in the vehicle.
The deceased have been identified as Mawlana Abu Taher,60, his son Mawlana Abu Bayezid, 35 and daughter Fahima Akhter, 30 and the driver of the vehicle Sarwar Hossain, 30.
“The three-wheeler caught fire upon contact with the broken wire. Locals rushed the victims to the hospital but they were all dead by then,” said Ashraful Islam, OC of Nangalkot police station.
The OC added that an investigation has been opened to find out why the wire had snapped in the first place.
