‘Drug peddler’ killed in Narayanganj ‘shootout’

ShootoutAn alleged drug peddler has been killed in Narayanganj in what the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) described it as a shootout.
The incident was reported in the early hours of Wednesday from district’s Shiddhirganj Upazila, said RAB.
The victim has been identified as Farid Mia alias Phense Farid who RAB claimed a top-listed drug peddler in the district.
“Acting on a tip-off, RAB conducted a raid at upazila’s Shimrail area to spot a group of drug peddlers. Sensing the presence of law enforcers the suspected drug peddlers opened fire targeting the lawmen forcing them retaliate with the same triggering a shootout,” said RAB-11 Senior Assistant Director Alep Uddin to Bangla Tribune.
“Farid was found lying with bullet wounds on the spot and taken to Narayanganj General Hospital where the doctor declared him dead, added the elite force official.
Two RAB men were also injured during the incident.
A pistol, yaba pills have been seized from the spot.
