A probe committee has been formed to investigate the incident of killing seven people when shootings erupted in Khagrachhari.
The incident was reported Saturday morning at the district town.
District Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam formed the five-member body headed by Additional District Magistrate Md Abu Yusuf.
The other members are Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shamsul Tabriz, Additional Police Super Md Salahuddin, Khagrachari Sadar Hospital Resident Surgeon Nayanmoy Tripura and a director from Fire and Civil Defence Service.
The committee will submit its report within 15 working days.
Meanwhile, United Peoples’ Democratic Front (UPDF) has called half-day road blockade on Monday to protest the killings.
On Saturday morning, activists of UPDF were attacked at the town’s Shanirgar area where they had gathered for a party event.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Ali Ahmad Khan said quoting witnesses that UPDF blames the JSS and UPDF (Democratic) faction for the attack.
JSS and UPDF (Democratic) have not made any comment immediately.
Additional police forces have been deployed in the area to avoid further violence.
