Advance Eid bonanza for Natore cattle tradersThough Eid is a few days away, the cattle market in Natore is already going on in full swing. Since cattle have not been imported from India, the local farms have made inspiring profits from selling their animals.
Everyone is happy; it’s like Eid joy coming in advance.
The District livestock department has said that meeting the local demand, the farms in natore will be able to sell an additional 1.5 lakh animals for Eid ul Azha.
The local sellers are making a profit of Tk. 5 to 10 thousand for selling one cow.
A seller said that he recently sold a cow for Tk. 68 thousand which was priced at Tk. 49 thousand two months ago.
Like him, many others are making more than Tk. 10000 profit by selling a cow.
Natore livestock division’s doctor, Mohammad Belal Hossain, says: “against a demand of 1 lakh 32 thousand animals, cow farmers have more than three lakh animals.”
So, meeting the local demand, around 1.5 lakh animals can be sold outside the district, he added.
To prevent the entry of imported cows and ensure disease free animals, medical teams have been stationed at all the cattle markets, informed Belal.
“All farms were under surveillance for the last six months, so we can state with certainty that the cattle on sale have grown on locally produced food.”
