State Minister Nasrul Hamid briefing media.Actions will be taken over the Barapukuria coal scam after the PMO-formed probe body files its reports, says State minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid.
The report is due next week, Hamid told a media briefing on Wednesday.
“The Prime Minister’s Office opened an inquiry for further investigation into the scam. Once its findings are available, actions will be taken against those responsible.”
Responding to a query, he said open-pit mining at Barapukuria would be a challenge due to factors like resettlement and water management.
On the the disappearance of granite from Madhyapara mine, Hamid said, “Any official complaint is yet to be filed. The issue came up in the audit report.”
On adding imported LNG to the national grid, the state minister said it will start anytime after Thursday (Aug 9), but did not specify.
About hiking gas prices, he said, “I hope Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) will not take any reckless decision. Gas prices will be kept within tolerable range.”
