Pay workers’ salaries, bonuses by Jun 2: Govt to RMG units

It has also asked to clear the current month’s salary by Jun 2.
The instruction came on Thursday (May 23) during a meeting of the labour ministry-led Crisis Management Core Committee presided over by State Minister Monnuzan Sufian.

Depending on moon sighting, the Eid-ul-Fitr is likely to be held on Jun 5 and the move to clear allowances and salaries would ensure workers’ safe journey to home to celebrate the religious festival.
Leaders from the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association, Bangladesh Textile Mills Association, trade union leaders, industrial police, government high-ups from different ministries and district attended the 42nd meeting of the core committee to decide about the salary disbursement to the workers ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr.
