Gas supply resumes in Dhaka city

Gas supply has resumed in the western part of the capital from 6am on Wednesday after suspension for 12 hours due to relocation of pipelines to facilitate the construction work of metro rail project.

“TGTDC has resumed the supply of gas in the western part of the capital from 6am Wednesday following relocation of pipelines,” director operation of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd (TGTDC) Engineer Kamruzzaman Khan told BSS.

During the relocation work, some pipes and valves of the main supply have been replaced to ensure uninterrupted supply in the capital city, he added.

All residential, commercial and industrial gas consumers, along with some key government establishments such as Bangabhaban, Ganobhaban, Jatiya Sangsad and Dhaka University did not get supply of gas from 6pm Tuesday to till 6am Wednesday.

During the period, there was no supply of gas in Mirpur, Shyamoli, Manipuripara, Agargaon, Mohammadpur, Dhanmondi, Ganabhaban, Jatiya Sangshad Bhaban, Kalabagan, Hajaribag, BUET, Dhaka University area, Shahbag, Green Road, areas of entire Old Dhaka, Bangabhaban, Gopibag, Shamibag, Rampura, Banasree, Nandipara, Maghbazar, Siddheshwari, Shegunbagicha, Mintu Road, Tejgaon, Khilgaon, Basabo , Motijheel and Kamalapur.
