Bangladesh-ChinaConsidering commercial importance, the Ministry of Public Administration has recommended opening a commercial wing in Kunming, China. Already, the issue has been presented at the development related cabinet meet for approval.

Recommendations have also been made for necessary vehicles. The proposal for the commercial wing underlined China’s rise as the second biggest economy in the world, stating that there will be new business markets for Bangladeshi products in China.

Last year, (2017-2018), imports from China were around $ 11 billion and at this time, exports to China was $ 694.97 million.

But Bangladesh can increase exports because China has given tax free market to 95 per cent of products from Bangladesh.

To expand markets globally, the commerce ministry has been working to establish 21 wings in 19 countries and Beijing is one of them.

The proposal stated that since there is huge demand for Bangladeshi products in the south-east part of China, a commercial wing in Kunming is needed immediately.

Kunming, the capital of Yunan province, is a tourist spot and carrying cost of products from Bangladesh is comparatively low.

Once the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar economic corridor is established, the commercial wing in Kunming will become more significant.

The ministry of public administration has also recommended opening commercial wings in Istanbul in Turkey and Pretoria in South America.
