Biman’s first Dreamliner set to arrive Sunday

Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ first Boeing Dreamliner 787-8 is set to reach Dhaka on Sunday.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which is considered to have the latest state of art technology in the global aviation industry, will not only ensure a comfortable journey but also have new technologies.
The first of the four Dreamliners and the 15th aircraft of Biman fleet is expected to land at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the afternoon.
Water cannons will be blown to welcome the first Dreamliner of the national carrier.

On Wednesday, a Biman Bangladesh delegation led by its Chairman Enamul Bari went to the US to receive the aircraft.
Shakil Meraj, General Manager (Public Relations) of Biman, said that the prime minister is scheduled to inaugurate the first flight of the Dreamliner on Sep 1, slated to fly to Kuala Lumpur.
The aircraft will initially be used to operate flights from Dhaka to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has chosen the name Akash Beena for the first Dreamliner 787-8 of the fleet.
In 2008, Biman Bangladesh Airlines signed a $2.1 billion deal with Boeing to purchase 10 new aircraft.
So far, four new Boeing 777-300 and two Boeing 737-800 aircraft were commissioned while the first one of the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner to be reaching here on Sunday.
The Boeing 787-8, designed to be 20 percent fuel efficient, has a total of 271 seats with 24 in business class and 247 in economy class.
It will provide its passengers with wifi services at a height of 43,000 feet, allowing passengers to browse the internet or connect with their friends and family at any end of the world.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines started its operation on Mar 4, 1972, with a Dhaka-London flight through a leased aircraft.
Two days later, on Mar 7, it started operating domestic flights to Sylhet and Chittagong.
