‘Silver Discoverer’, a cruise ship operated by Silver Sea Cruise, arrived at Mongla port on Sunday (Jan 27) with 61 tourists from five different countries to visit the Sundarbans, a Unesco world heritage site.
Durul Huda, a harbour master commander of Mongla Port, said ‘Silver Discoverer’ anchored at the port in the afternoon with tourists from the USA, India, France, Canada and the Netherlands and 92 crew members on board.
They will stay for three days as part of a tour jointly arranged by Bangladesh’s Journey Plus and Pugmark Tours.
The tourists are scheduled to visit Dhangmai Dolphin Sanctuary, Sundarbans Harbaria Forest office, Watchtower, Harbaria canal, Harmal canal and Churaputia on Monday while Tikona Island, Kokilmoni canal and Alorkol on Tuesday and Hironpoint and Watch Tower on Wednesday.
They will leave for Yangoon in Myanmar on Thursday.
Earlier, Silver Discoverer visited Maheshkhali Island and the Sundarbans twice in 2017 carrying 162 foreign tourists from 17 countries.
Bangladesh Forest Department will provide the necessary security to the foreign tourists alongside Pugmark Tours.
